What is the purpose of the Shandaken Women’s Network?
The purpose of the Shandaken Women's Network is to establish a place for women in business and/or involved in community affairs to network and support each other's endeavors.

Who is eligible to join?
Membership is open to all women who live or work in the communities that make up the Catskill Region, east of the Delaware Watershed.

When and where does the SWN meet?
We meet the third Tuesday of each month, except January. We gather monthly at various locations for dinners, mixers and potlucks. Check our website regularly, or sign up for The Echo, our e-newsletter.

Do I need to be a member to attend a meeting?
You do not have to be a member to attend, but if you enjoy our gatherings on a regular basis, we hope you will join for a nominal $15 a year membership to help defray some of the costs involved.

What are the benefits of SWN membership?

Membership enables you to:

  • post brief notices in The Echo, our bi-monthly on-line e-newsletter
  • add a name, business listing and a link on the SWN website
  • receive membership list
  • volunteer to serve on the Executive Committee as an officer or coordinator
  • vote, participate in trade shows and charity efforts
  • network as a member at business and social events with like-minded women at different venues throughout the region

How is the Shandaken Women's Network Governed?

We are governed by an Executive Committee from our membership and By-Laws. We have a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and other committee members. We have coordinators for Programs, Membership, Echo e-newsletter, Youth Programs, Reservations, Fundraisers and other areas of responsiblility that may arise during special projects.

How do I join or renew my membership?
Annual membership dues are $15 and valid for one year.

To start or renew your membership just download a SWN membership form and make check or money order for $15 payable to: Shandaken Women's Network

Membership Form: Word format PDF format

Mail your membership fee and form to:

Shandaken Women's Network, P.O. Box 144, Boiceville, NY 12412 or better yet, bring them to the next meeting.

Why do you call it the Shandaken Women’s Network if it's open to all women in this region?
We branched off from the Catskill Women’s Network in Greene County a decade ago and started meeting in the Shandaken area. As we evolved to a larger network of women we kept the name of the hamlet as a tribute to the rural origins of our network. Our members and guests come together from a wide region.

Do I have to be a SWN member to receive the SWN e-newsletter The Echo?
You do not need to be a member to receive The Echo. Just send an email to news at shandakenwomen.net with a note on the subject line: Add SWN Newsletter. Include your address and phone for internal information only. We do not distribute the list. Your privacy is very important to us.

How can I be removed from the SWN e-newsletter list?
Just send an email to news at shandakenwomen.net with a note on the subject line “Remove Newsletter List”

I’d like to get involved…
We are a volunteer membership organization with plenty of opportunities to get involved. Go to our link:

Do you have a tax exempt status?
Although we make charitable donations as a group, we do not have official tax-exempt status. We do have a scholarship fund, which we encourage you to donate to, which gives an annual scholarship to a member of our regional community.

NOTE: In order to keep from spam we write the word 'at' instead of @ in our email addresses. Simply retype the email address, less the spaces around the 'at' and use @.
